Deputy Labour leader survives ousting attempt

The deputy leader of the UK's Labour Party has a survived an attempt to be ousted over Brexit.

Tom Watson, who has previously challenged party leader Jeremey Corbyn's position on Brexit, said the attempt was like “a drive-by shooting.”

Watson has made it public that he believes a second referendum should be held before any new general election.

The plan to get rid of the deputy leader was devised by Jon Lansman, who is the founder of the left-wing grassroots movement Momentum.

He proposed a motion to abolish the deputy’s post because of disloyalty to the Labour Party over Brexit.
