Cable car crash in Canada caused by vandalism, say police

Twitter

Dozens of cable cars at a Canadian tourist hotspot crashed early Saturday, in what the police believe was an act of vandalism.

The Sea to Sky Gondola wasn't operating at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported as a result.

"We believe the cables were cut and this was a deliberate act of vandalism," said Squamish RCMP Inspector Kara Triance. "At this time, it's a crime scene."

The Sea to Sky Gondola takes passengers to almost 3,000 feet above sea level, providing views of Howe Sound and surrounding waterfalls.
