Indian airlines extend Saudi flight cancellations

Shuttershock

Air India and Air India Express have extended their flight cancellations to and from Saudi Arabia until October 24.

An Air India spokesperson told ARN News the latest update was issued on October 17.

The cancellations cover flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

Air India said earlier the cancellations were “in view of the evolving situation in Saudi Arabia”. It is offering affected passengers full refunds.

Air India Express is offering passengers free rescheduling or a full refund.

Both airlines are advising passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. Anyone who booked through a travel agent should contact them directly.

Other Indian carriers have also cancelled flights. IndiGo has suspended flights to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah until October 24. Akasa Air has cancelled Riyadh flights until October 24 and Jeddah flights until October 21.

The disruption follows an attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Saturday, October 10, which killed 12 people and injured 309. Saudi authorities later extended the suspension of operations at the airport following repeated attacks.

Etihad has also extended its cancellations between Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia until October 24.
