Palestinian Oscar winner Hamdan Ballal has been detained in the occupied West Bank by Israeli soldiers, after tensions escalated into violence.
Ballal, one of the co-directors of No Other Land, was surrounded at his home on Monday, in the village of Susya.
The BBC reported that Ballal and Co-director Yuval Abraham were beaten and taken by the soldiers while in an ambulance - which has been denied by Israel.
Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that three Palestinians and an Israeli were detained for "rock hurling". The IDF did not name Ballal.
The Israeli army confirmed that soldiers and police arrived to disperse a confrontation after Ballal's house had been surrounded by settlers.
No Other Land won an Oscar at this year's Academy Awards for best documentary. The film has also won an award Berlin International Film Festival in 2024.
