Pop star Lady Gaga is expected to perform a free concert at Rio de Janeiro's iconic Copacabana Beach on May 3, 2025.
Part of Mayor Eduardo Paes’ “Celebration May” initiative, the event aims to attract international superstars for free shows that boost the local economy.
Although Lady Gaga’s representatives and label have not confirmed the event, officials have hinted at a preliminary deal with an unnamed global pop star. A formal announcement is expected soon.
The initiative follows the massive success of Madonna’s free concert at Copacabana in May 2024, which drew an estimated 1.6 million attendees and generated significant economic returns.
“This will be a hit,” said Rio hotel union head Alfredo Lopes, noting the positive impact of such mega-shows on tourism.
Past free performances at Copacabana Beach have included the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, and Lenny Kravitz.
