Adele buys new LA home for $9.5 million

Adele has reportedly splashed out $9.5 million on a mansion in LA County. The 'Hello' hitmaker has spent the eye-watering sum to acquire a 6,600 square foot home in an exclusive gated community in Los Angeles, where the likes of Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lawrence are already residents. The London-born star's new abode features four bedrooms, six bathrooms and a swimming pool, as well as a treehouse and an outdoor train set, according to TMZ. The report of Adele's latest acquisition comes shortly after it was rumoured the 28-year-old singer is on the cusp of sign a record-breaking recording contract with Sony, who will release her music worldwide. If the reported figures are accurate and Adele accepts the jaw-dropping offer, she will overtake the previous record held by fellow Brit Robbie Williams, who was reportedly given as much as £80 million by EMI Records in 2002. An insider at Sony recently said: "We have secured the biggest music star in a generation. This is massive. "Adele's deal with her original label XL expired and we'd an existing relationship with her in America. "The deal is being worked on by our Columbia label in the US, but is worth £90 million and gives Sony the rights to release her future music exclusively around the world." Adele's most-recent studio album '25' debuted at number one in more than 25 markets around the world and broke first-week sales records in various countries, including the UK and the United States. The album has since sold more than 19 million copies globally and has also been generally well received by critics.
