The UAE has sent an aircraft carrying urgent relief aid, consisting of 83 tonnes of food supplies and various shelter and humanitarian essentials, to support those affected by the devastating flash flood and landslide in Nepal.
The death toll rose to 750 by Sunday morning, with more than 3,000 people missing on both sides of the Nepal-China border after a torrent of ice, rock, mud and debris swept through mountain valleys and rivers on Wednesday, causing widespread devastation.
It follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to allocate $10 million to provide relief to those affected.
The UAE Aid Agency, in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Nepal, is coordinating with local authorities to ensure the relief supplies reach those in need.
The agency is also continuing to coordinate with relevant international organisations to strengthen and consolidate relief efforts in the affected areas.
