UAE relief mission departs for flood-hit Nepal

The UAE has sent a humanitarian relief mission to Nepal to support communities affected by severe floods and landslides.

The team includes disaster relief, medical evacuation and first-aid specialists from the UAE Joint Operations Command, Dubai Police Search and Rescue, and the UAE Aid Agency.

The mission was dispatched on the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who recently allocated $10 million in assistance for Nepal.

Two aid aircraft were also dispatched, carrying a combined 128 tonnes of food, shelter and essential relief supplies, including power generators.

The UAE Aid Agency, in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Kathmandu, is coordinating with local authorities and relevant international organisations to deliver urgent assistance and support search and rescue efforts in the worst-hit areas.
