October deadline set for Abu Dhabi residents to sort health cover

Abu Dhabi residents have until October 23 to get their health cover in order, or face a AED 300 fine for every month until they enrol in a health plan.

The Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health (DoH)'s new deadline offers uninsured residents time to explore various healthcare options and access the appropriate services as deemed necessary.

The move is in accordance with the provisions of the Health Insurance Law No. 23/2005, its amendments and executive regulations.

The DoH had previously launched a set of initiatives and exemptions that ensure that all community members obtain a health insurance policy and have access to the necessary healthcare services.

"As we strive to support the health and safety of our community members, we encourage them to subscribe to a health insurance plan or renew their subscription to ensure they get the care they need," said Dr. Jamal Mohammed Alkaabi, Undersecretary of the DoH.
