Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has expanded its popular Bus-On-Demand service to cover two new areas, Oud Metha and Barsha Heights.
This move comes in response to rising demand and aims to provide faster and more convenient daily travel options, helping to ease traffic congestion across the city.
The service, which runs 13-seater buses, is designed to connect residents with public transport stations, offering a flexible solution for short-distance travel, with each trip costing AED 5 .
It operates through the Dubai-Bus On-Demand smart application, allowing passengers to book rides, track routes, and pay fares, all from their smartphones, with drivers able to communicate with passengers via the app to reach the nearest pickup point.
Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the RTA’s Public Transport Agency, said that the service has been carefully planned by considering factors like user preferences, transport accessibility and global best practices.
He added that the latest expansion brings the service to ten key areas across the emirate. The service was already available in Al Barsha, Dubai Silicon Oasis and Al Nahda, with recent expansions to Business Bay and Downtown Dubai.
