Dubai Police reintegration programme delivers sharp drop in youth misconduct

Dubai Police's 'Naseej' youth rehabilitation initiative has helped 135 young people make positive behavioural changes and reintegrate into their communities.

The programme recorded a 98.5 per cent reduction in negative behaviour at school, a 90.9 per cent decline at home, and an 88 per cent drop in repeat offending.

Run by the Training Department at Dubai Police Academy, Naseej takes a preventative approach to youth misconduct.

Instead of sending young people involved in violations through the criminal justice system, the programme offers a structured path focused on rehabilitation, discipline and positive behavioural change.

It combines military and sports training with awareness lectures and psychological support, offering young people involved in misconduct an alternative to the criminal justice process.

Between 2023 and 2026, participants completed 10 specialised courses over 220 days, totalling more than 14,600 training hours.

Parents have also reported significant improvements, with a dedicated survey showing 95 per cent satisfaction with the initiative, its programmes and training courses.

Brigadier Abdulaziz Mohammad Al Abdullah, Acting Deputy Director of Dubai Police Academy and General Supervisor of Naseej, said the initiative aims to prevent negative behaviour in schools, support community reintegration, provide a safe educational environment and promote positive behaviour in cooperation with strategic partners.

The programme also raises awareness of the legal consequences of misconduct, helping young people understand how negative choices can affect their future.

Naseej has received several awards for its community impact, including first place in the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work and the Emirates Ideas Award for Best Community Initiative in 2026.

It also won first place in the International Association for Police Thought Award for Best Distinguished Initiative in 2025.
