Dubai Metro’s ONPASSIVE station gets new name

Dubai Metro’s ONPASSIVE station on the Red Line is being renamed Garmin Metro Station, under a 10-year naming rights agreement.

The agreement has been signed between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), AMIT Retail, the UAE distributor of Garmin, and Hypermedia, under the supervision of Mada Media.

The change is part of Dubai’s Metro Station Naming Rights Initiative, which allows major brands to associate their names with stations across the Red and Green Lines.

The RTA says the agreement reflects the continued success of the initiative and Dubai’s efforts to strengthen public-private partnerships and attract global brands.

Garmin, specialising in smart devices and GPS navigation technology, will become the latest international brand to join the programme, gaining long-term visibility among millions of residents and visitors who use the Dubai Metro.

The RTA will gradually update station signs, maps, digital systems and public transport apps with the new name.

The changes will be rolled out from September through the end of November 2026. Audio announcements on Metro trains will also be updated to reflect the new station name.

Passengers are being asked to take note of the change. RTA teams will be available at stations to assist passengers and answer questions during the transition.

The Dubai Metro Station Naming Rights Initiative was launched in 2009 and has become a major platform for public-private partnerships and brand investment in Dubai’s transport network.
