Dubai activates proactive response plans for rainy weather

Dubai Media Office

Dubai Municipality says it is fully prepared for anticipated rainfall, with emergency teams and specialised equipment on standby to manage water accumulation and ensure essential public services continue without disruption.

Around 675 personnel will be available around the clock to respond to emergencies, supported by approximately 1,100 pieces of specialised equipment and machinery.

The municipality has also prepared 10 temporary water collection lakes at strategic locations to accommodate runoff during heavy rainfall and ease pressure on the main drainage network.

Preventive maintenance has been intensified across stormwater infrastructure, including the cleaning of more than 70,000 drainage inlets to improve water flow and reduce the risk of accumulation.

Dubai Municipality's Command and Control Centre will monitor weather developments and emergency reports in coordination with Dubai Police, the RTA, Dubai Civil Defence and other relevant entities to ensure a swift response when needed.

The preparations also draw on data from previous periods of unsettled weather, with locations affected by water accumulation assessed to help improve response plans and the deployment of field resources.

Residents and visitors have been urged to follow official weather alerts and safety guidance.

Rainwater accumulation and related emergencies can be reported through the municipality's Contact Centre on 800900 or its official WhatsApp service.
