Russia facing athletics ban over doping report

NULL

Russia could face a ban from participating in international athletics, including the 2016 Olympics, following a report from an anti-doping body. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commission found a culture of corruption and drug abuse in the country's athletics. WADA said there was a "deeply rooted culture of cheating" and the Russian government was sponsoring a doping programme. The independent commission was set up by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) to analyse allegations of drug abuse and cover-ups in the sporting superpower. Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said they would make recommendations based on the report. Interpol said it will coordinate a global probe in the corruption and doping allegations.
