Premier League round-up: Chelsea lose again as Arsenal go top

More pressure has been on heaped onto Jose Mourinho, after his Chelsea side lost for the fifth time in the Premier League this season. The champions went down 2-1 at West Ham, in a game in which Mourinho was sent to the stands. Nemanja Matić also saw red, getting a second yellow just before half-time, with Chelsea already a goal down after Mauro Zarate’s opener. Gary Cahill levelled things ten minutes into the second period, but Andy Carroll’s late header secured another impressive win for the Hammers. Meanwhile, Arsenal moved to the top of the EPL with a 2-1 over Everton at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners scored two goals in two minutes, both headers from Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud.Ross Barkley soon pulled one back, his left-foot effort deflecting past Petr Cech on the stroke of half-time, but the Blues were unable to rescue a point, and saw Gareth Barry dismissed in stoppage time. Elsewhere, Leicester emerged 1-0 victors over Crystal Palace in the battle of the high-flyers thanks to Jamie Vardy’s 10th goal of the season, Watford ended Stoke recent fine form with a 2-0 win at the Brittania, Norwich lost 1-0 at home to West Brom, and Swansea came from behind to win 2-1 at Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Manchester City can reclaim top spot from Arsenal today, but to do so they’ll need to win the Manchester derby at Old Trafford (18:05). Before then, there’s another derby as Sunderland host Newcastle (16:00). Elsewhere, Bournemouth welcome Spurs (18:05), whilst in the day’s late kick-off (20:15) Southampton travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
