UAE praised for hosting F1 Grand Prix in 'exceptional circumstances'

His Highness Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, says the UAE's success in hosting the Formula 1 season final during the COVID-19 pandemic adds to the nation's continuous achievements.

His Highness attended the finale of the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2020 at Yas Marina Circuit.

He crowned the Dutch winning driver Max Verstappen in the presence of Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority and Chase Carey, Formula One Group CEO.

His Highness said that the country's success in hosting the event during these exceptional times is a distinct addition to the UAE's track record of continuous achievements.

His Highness said ''The success of organising the championship during these circumstances reaffirms the capabilities of the UAE and the excellence of its national cadres in transforming the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic into opportunities for achievements." 

He thanked the organisers of the world championship and expressed his appreciation to the partners for their significant role in the event.
