All UAE flights to and from Pakistan have been suspended until further notice.

The General Civil Aviation Authority has taken the decision after the country shut down its airspace following an escalation of cross-border tensions with India.

UAE residents planning to travel to Pakistan are being advised to check the status of their flights with their airline.

Emirates and flydubai have confirmed to ARN News that their operations have been affected on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement, Emirates said it will "continue to monitor the situation closely, and update customers as the situation develops".

Emirates flights to Afghanistan have also been affected.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan's civil aviation authority closed its airspace to all commercial flights after it claimed to have shot down two Indian warplanes and captured two pilots in Kashmir.
