Sharjah uncovers 15 violations against protection of plant species

WAM

Authorities in Sharjah have uncovered 15 violations related to damages to the emirate’s plant species in the first quarter of 2020.

The Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) said they were mainly caused by soil levelling work and cutting of trees.

Offenders were fined AED 10,000.

The law prohibits activities that damage the environment, such as dumping, burying, storing hazardous waste, disposal of wastes, polluting wild areas, bulldozing and causing damage to people’s health.
