Sharjah slashes power charges for freehold properties

Electricity charges in Sharjah have been slashed by nearly 40 per cent for freehold residential units owned by expats.

According to the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA), the tariffs now range between 28 fils to 43 fils per kilowatt, rather than a fixed charge of 45 fils.

More than 50,000 consumers are expected to benefit from the scheme.

It follows a similar reduction announced recently by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority for the northern emirates.
