No criminal charges for people seeking help for substance abuse

Dubai police have dropped a reminder that no criminal proceedings will be levied against individuals who voluntarily enrol or are enrolled by their relatives in an addiction treatment unit.

They took to their official Twitter account to raise awareness on the matter and is as per article 89 of the UAE legislation on combating drugs and psychotropic substances. 

Individuals seeking help for addiction must remain in the unit until a decision has been taken to release them and rehab admission should not exceed one year.
