Video: New bridge for pedestrians, cyclists opens in Dubai

Dubai Media Office

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of a 475-metre long bridge for pedestrians and cyclists crossing over Ras Al Khor Road (Dubai-Hatta).

Connecting International City with Al Warqaa, the bridge will ease mobility of pedestrians while linking the cycling tracks.

The speed limit for cyclists has been set at 30 km/h for dedicated cycling tracks, and 20 km/h on tracks shared with pedestrians in urban areas.

Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA said the construction of the bridge is a part of RTA’s efforts to improve the standard of living in the city and migrate to sustainable transit means with the least environmental pollutants.

"It also echoes Dubai Traffic Safety Strategy envisioning zero fatalities to make Dubai the safest city in the world in 2021," he added.
