A workshop has been held to introduce the second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), an event to allow news agencies in OIC countries to get acquainted with the latest media and content technology.

The workshop was held by the Union of News Agencies of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (UNA-OIC), in cooperation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC).

The second edition of the GMC will be held from November 14 to 16, 2023 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.

The workshop outlined the agenda of the congress; the first day will focus on sustainability and environmental media, the second day on media and innovation education, and the third day on sports media.

Director General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the GMC, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, revealed that the GMC will include several topics, including artificial intelligence, advanced technology, and creative innovation, in addition to a number of specialised sessions in the fields of radio, television, social media and journalism.

He also added the GMC's aim to provide an ideal platform for international companies wishing to enter the media industry markets in the Gulf, Middle East and North Africa regions.

More than 35 workshops, innovation platforms, and laboratories for the future of the media industry will also be held during the congress.

The first edition of the Global Media Congress was held from November 15 to 17 of last year, and witnessed a wide turnout from major media institutions and organizations around the world.

More than 200 CEOs participated, along with more than 1200 media pioneers, specialists, and global influencers, representing 6 continents. It included more than 30 interactive sessions and more than 27 workshops, in which more than 173 prominent international speakers participated.

The 2022 GMC exhibition attracted more than 193 major international media companies from 42 countries around the world.
