EU can help save Yemen peace deal: UAE Ambassador

The UAE Ambassador to the EU has called on the bloc to help save the Yemen peace deal.

Mohamed Issa Abushahab says that Europe could use its credibility and diplomatic weight to push the Houthi's to abide by the Stockholm agreement.

The rebels have consistently violated the peace deal since it was signed last month, launching a number of attacks on Arab Coalition forces and refusing to reopen the Hodeidah-Sana’a highway, leading to critical humanitarian supplies being held up.

Abushahab says that the EU can help deter such actions by the Houthi's through the threat of sanctions, and also convince Iran to stop smuggling weapons to the rebels.
