Venezuela detains five foreign journalists

Five foreign journalists have been arrested in Venezuela for covering the US-backed efforts to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

This follows the deportation of two Chilean reporters detained this week.

Two of the arrested are from France, two from Colombia and one from Spain.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said foreign reporters had entered the country without work permits but refused to mention the reason for the latest detentions.

Meanwhile, thousands of people took to the streets to pledge their support for opposition's self-declared president Juan Guaido.
