Just months ahead of the Indian general elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has finally taken the plunge into active politics.
The Congress party has appointed her as the general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East.
Priyanka, the sister of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, will take charge in the first week of February.
In a string of appointments, the party has also appointed K C Venugopal as general secretary of the Congress, apart from his role in Karnataka, with Jyotiraditya Scindia made in-charge of Uttar Pradesh West.
