Underwater search for missing footballer begins Sunday

A privately funded search for the plane carrying Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson is set to begin on Sunday.

According to reports, two fishing boats will search the sea around the island of Guernsey and will continue "until the plane is located".

The private search is being carried out in coordination with the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

The Piper PA-46 Malibu plane vanished from radar over the English Channel on January 21. The plane had requested to descend, then lost contact with Jersey air traffic control.
